About the competition
The annual Blue Lynx Prize for Poetry awards $2000 plus publication for a full-length poetry collection. The Prize is awarded for an unpublished, full-length volume of poems by a U.S. author, which includes foreign nationals living and writing in the U.S. and U.S. citizens living abroad.
Previous winners include Heather Sellers, Kirsten Kaschock, Joe Wilkins, Carolyne Wright, Jim Daniels, Roy Bentley, Arianne Zwartjes, and Lynne Burris Butler. The 2022 winner was Flower Conroy for her collection Greenest Grass (or You Can’t Keep Killing Yourself & Not Expect to Die). Lynx House Press has been publishing fine poetry and prose since 1975. Our titles are distributed by the University of Washington Press.
Manuscripts may include poems that have appeared in journals, magazines, or chapbooks. Poems that have previously appeared in full-length, single-author collections, are not eligible. Acknowledgments pages and author names may be included. Entries must be at least 48 pages in length. The reading fee for submitting is $28. Entrants may choose to receive a book (of our choosing) from our back catalog for an additional $4 to cover the cost of shipping (due to the prohibitive cost of international shipping, this option is only available to those living within the United States).
