Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference 2021
August 8, 2021 @ 9:00 am - August 11, 2021 @ 5:00 pm EDT

The Bread Loaf Workshop Series is a two-week-long session made up of two separate one-week workshops. During the workshop series participants will work under the guidance of notable writers, including MacArthur Fellows, U.S. poets laureate, and recipients of the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award.
Overview
The 2021 edition of the Bread Loaf Workshop Series will take place from August 8 to 21. The series is comprised of two separate workshop weeks, and writers can apply to one or both:
Workshops Week 1: August 9, 11, and 13
Workshops Week 2: August 16, 18, and 20
The Workshop Series features small workshops that meet via Zoom. During the session, workshop participants take part in three two-hour group meetings offered on the Monday, Wednesday, Friday, either at 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. EST (see times listed with workshop leader names below).
Workshops are limited to six participants so that each manuscript receives individual attention and critique. All participants also meet individually with their workshop leader to amplify and refine what is said in the workshop itself. The manuscript packet of student writing is available to each workshop group in the weeks leading up to the session in order to allow time to read and prepare.
In addition to the workshops, meetings with agents and editors take place during the week. Established editors, literary agents, and publishers meet individually with workshop participants to share information on placing work in magazines and navigating the book publishing world. All workshop participants also enjoy access to the complete Access Bread Loaf Lecture Series in August.
Cost
Workshop Series Week One: $850.
Workshop Series Week Two: $850.
Financial aid is available.

Please note:
The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.
What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
