Tired of struggling for months, even years, to write a memoir?
About this event
I know exactly how you feel!
I spent 8 years struggling to write the first draft of my memoir. Just when I thought I’d FINALLY finished it, I worked with an editor who told me it was missing some key pieces.
I found out that I had failed to include the most difficult, but most IMPORTANT, part of my story. I’d been too afraid to dig deep to get to the most authentic message–the one that would deeply resonate with others.
Truthfully, I wanted to give up. But I didn’t. I took a big step back and looked at my story through a new lens: a tried-and-true story structure called the Hero’s Journey.
I studied this story template and applied it to my memoir to make sure my story not only had a beginning, a middle, and an end but a strong transformational arc and a clear message.
As a result, my book was published and went on to win several awards, including being named Book of the Year by the Chicago Writers Association.
Now I’d like to teach you how to use the Hero’s Journey to finish your book with confidence.
Here’s what you’ll learn on my free training…
- The 5 Most Common Mistakes You’ll Make if You DON’T Use a Tried-and-True Story Structure
- Why You Will Continue to Waste Time and Energy Until You Understand the Transformational Arc of Your Personal Story
- The #1 Inescapable Truth That Will Make or Break The Success of Your Memoir

Please note:
The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.
What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
