About this event
The WOC Azadi* Collective is a grassroots project led by and for Women of Colour (WOC) that offers a transformative space for us to come together in solidarity, to heal, and work towards liberating ourselves from patriarchy, white supremacy and colonialism.
We are excited to share details of our final event in our series of creative writing workshops.
Our True Nature is a series of four nature writing workshops for women of colour encouraging you to explore and deepen the relationship between you, the natural and more-than-human world, and how nature can heal and bring us immense joy.
Through a series of sensory writing activities and by creating a collaborative, healing writing environment, this workshop combines the super-powers of therapeutic writing and eco-therapy. It encourages participants to discover their own wild language of expression, to connect with themselves, the natural and more-than-human world around them – building confidence and courage in their creative expression and to deepen their connection to nature as a healing force.
This workshop draws on the words of global authors/poets and ancestral wisdoms and challenges the dominant discourse in the UK of nature, whiteness and our connections to land as Women of Colour
This is a collaboration between WOC Azadi Collective and write and facilitator, Dal Kular. https://www.dalkular.com/
This event will be held online. Zoom details will be shared with ticket holders only, the day before the event.
Please note that the workshop has been created to be a safe space for WOC and is only open to women from black, brown and other racialised communities. If this is not who you are, then we request that you reconsider booking a ticket and not to take up space for WOC.
Workshops are suitable for people aged 18+ and will be held online via zoom. Zoom links will be sent the day before the event. Priority will be given for WOC based in Sheffield and Rotherham, but spaces will be available to women outside of these areas as well.
If you have any questions about the workshop or have any access needs, including financial support to cover costs for child care, interpreting, data for internet access etc please contact [email protected]
* WOC -Is used as a collective term to include women from racialised communities who are marginalised due their race or ethnicity. The WOC Azadi Collective is an inclusive space for cis and trans women and non binary people.

Please note:
The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.
What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
