FREE | Poet’s Corner
April 14, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

About this event
The Poet’s Corner is a free workshop for teens and adults meant to empower participants in writing creatively with different styles of poetry and structures. This program aims to create a nurturing space for emerging poets and writers to document their own stories and emotions. Writers create unique pieces at every workshop and are encouraged to participate in an open mic session that same evening to share their creation. For ages 13 & up.
About the poet
Nicco Diaz is a Queer Nuyorican spoken word artist and poet from the Bronx and East Harlem. A proud product of NYC public schools, Nicco’s work is rooted in his lived experience navigating predominantly white spaces as a person of color, celebrating his complex, intersectional identity, and exploring themes of generational trauma, family, friendship, body positivity, sex and sexuality, heartbreak, love, and self-love.
Nicco has performed at open mics all over NYC and the internet, such as the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Art Defined, Dominican Writers Association, Spanglish Voces, and the Word is Write. In February 2022, Nicco was selected as BX Writers’ Writer of The Week.
Nicco Diaz can be found on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter @NiccoDiaz.NYC.

Please note:
The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.
What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
