August 12, 2022 @ 4:30 am - 5:45 am EDT
Free
Join storyteller Richard Neville for an online adventure into the imagination! For Gadgeteers aged 7-11 (KS 2).
About this event
This summer we are going to take an online adventure into the imagination with a series of three creative writing workshops from storyteller Richard Neville.
Each week Richard will be setting writing and drawing exercises for budding Gadgeteers. Create your own stories based on the workshop themes or perhaps devise your own story boards for an imaginary film!
Did they have robots in medieval times? How did people ever live without computers? What sort of mind-boggling gadgets will people be using in the year 3001?
Find out the answer to these questions and let your imagination run wild as the Gadgeteers Summer Reading Challenge continues with Harrow Libraries.
This session:
Richard Neville’s Creative Writing Workshop Part 1: Medieval Robots
Believe it or not there actually were robots in medieval times, created by the Mesopotamian inventor Al-Jazari in the 13th Century. Join us to make a story about these medieval gadgets inspired by the wonderful collection of stories ‘The 1001 Nights’.

Further Creative Writing Workshops will be held on Friday 19th and Friday 26th August.
Please book separately to attend each workshop

Please note:
The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.
What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
