FREE | The Art and Craft of Self-Editing. A Masterclass with The Write Salon
March 26, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

About this event
Have you written a story and don’t know how to improve it?
Have you abandoned a novel because the plot doesn’t work and you don’t know how to fix it? Perhaps you have material you know is good, but it keeps just missing the grade with publishers, agents, or literary awards.
Join The Write Salon’s Art and Craft of Self-Editing.
This masterclass splits the task of self-editing into two distinct stages: the artistic edit and the craft edit.
In the Artistic edit:
-You will learn how to add depth and vitality to your material and how to untangle plot knots before you start tinkering and polishing.
-Dead scenes will spring to life; secondary characters will spread the load of the plot, giving variety and subtlety to your narrative.
In the Craft edit:
-You will learn how to sharpen every scene, every line of dialogue, every descriptive phrase without losing the will to live!
-You will come at the story will fresh vigor, knowing that with every change, you make the story more uniquely yours, recharging it with the passion that first prompted you to write it.
This class could save your book. It’s one hour of your time and it’s free!
This masterclass will be recorded. All attendees will receive a link to the recording 2-3 days after the Livestream to rewatch as needed.

Please note:
The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.
What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
