About this event

The Virtual Poetry Dive is an adventure into the inspiration, connection, and authenticity possible through an alchemy of music, poetry, movement and writing — all held in a strong vessel of ceremony and shared intention. The Poetry Dive is an immersive experience, each section of it unfolding from the last, so it is best to be present and uninterrupted for the whole event from beginning to end. We will gather for 3.5 hours, with a break in the middle. The next Poetry Dive will be on Saturday, February 19 from 10:00 am PT to 1:30 pm PT. (The starting time is 1 pm ET, and 6 pm in the UK). Please plan to be uninterrupted for the entire time. There will be a 10 – 15 minute break in the middle.

Poetry is the language of intimacy with self and others. It can invite us to strip our masks and give naked voices to the deepest place within us. In the poetry dive, we invite the involuntary — beyond the mind — to move us in many ways – through body movement, as well as through the inner movements of feeling and insight. In this context poems offer medicine to unlock ordinary patterns of thought and melt the veils between the worlds, dissolving self-consciousness and giving each a taste of her/his most authentic self.

The workshop begins with meditation, teaching and an opening ceremony. This is followed by a break and then a “Poetry Dive,” which is a form Kim has created that moves from guided movement to immersion in poems spoken by Kim with powerful music, designed to allow you to journey in the shamanic medicine of word and rhythm allowing your inner life to rise to the surface. The experience continues with spontaneous “blurt” writing. This is followed by optional sharing.

The focus of the Poetry Dive is on the soul’s unfoldment, not on teaching about poetry or writing. No previous experience is necessary. Although there is no charge for this workshop, there is a cost: three and a half uninterrupted hours of your life! This is not the kind of online workshop where you can multifocus and/or come and go. There will be a 10-minute break in the middle.

It is difficult to get the news from poems yet men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there.

**PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 5 PM PT FEBRUARY 18*

Join me for this next adventure into the unexpected intimacy, connection and authenticity possible through the miracle of Zoom in alchemy with music, the poetry of the inner life, dancing, writing, sharing — all held in a strong vessel ceremony and shared intention…

This will be an immersion in poems, music, movement and silence designed to liberate the flow of your feelings and free your unique expression — through words, voice, body, sound and silence. In a circle committed to authenticity, risk-taking and self-honesty, inhibitions fall and all aspects of being, from the darkest to the brightest, are welcomed.

From a participant: “This is one of the best experiences I ever had. It was such a gift to be free to be immersed so deeply in sound, the sound of your voice, the upwelling of the music. It was one of the most completely immersive all-encompassing few hours. Fishes and loaves all in one, sustaining. In many ways this moment in time has brought blessings I never expected to receive again because of the difficulty of travel and the limitations of sound and sight age has brought me. But they were overcome this glorious afternoon.”

The focus is more on the soul’s unfoldment than on poetry per se. Poetry is the language of intimacy with self and others. It can invite us to strip our masks and give naked voice to the deepest place within us….

By optional donation, all are welcome.

Please note:

The Valley of Writers team scours the web looking for the most inspiring, elevating, and accessible events that we can share as a service to our readers.
The big idea is that in a virtual arena, more people can participate. Geographical boundaries matter less.
The events we list are virtual and can be attended by writers from wherever they are in the world.
Unless otherwise stated, we are not affiliated with and do not benefit financially from the events we post. Listing is not an endorsement of the content, opinions, or products promoted by the event organizers we feature here.
Please verify all dates, times and other event details as these are subject to change and are beyond our control.

What qualifies an event as ‘lit’? Any event that we think would teach writers of fiction, memoir, and poetry useful skills, inspire them to produce great work, remind them of the power of this work we do and build stronger, mutually beneficial ties between writers and other creatives.
